Q&A with Joanne Caruso 黑料社区 Chief Legal and Administrative Officer

叠别测辞苍诲窜别谤辞庐 is our approach to the health, safety and security of our people, the protection of the environment and the resilience of 黑料社区. BeyondZero is so much more than a typical safety program. It鈥檚 helped us recognize and emphasize our whole selves, clearing the way for safety that encompasses the physical and emotional alongside the courage to raise our hands, speak up and stand down to create our Culture of Caring.

This year, BeyondZero is marking the 15-year anniversary of its launch 鈥 creating an opportunity for each of us to make an immediate and enduring commitment to contribute to our culture of work that鈥檚 healthy, safe and secure for our people and our planet.

In celebration, we鈥檙e talking with some of the team members leading the efforts to extend BeyondZero beyond where we work and into our daily lives, so we鈥檙e able to create a safer and healthier future for our families and our communities.

In this feature, we鈥檙e talking with Joanne Caruso, who is our Chief Legal & Administrative Officer and BeyondZero executive sponsor.

Hi, Joanne. You鈥檙e one of the sponsors of BeyondZero. What does BeyondZero mean to you?

BeyondZero is about action, a way of thinking, doing and behaving, so that in all we do we are contributing to the safety, security and wellbeing of ourselves, each other, our communities and the environment.

How do you see BeyondZero supporting our strategy to boldly move the company forward?

Being and feeling safe, both physically and mentally, is a critical foundation for all of us to be able to perform at the highest levels.    If we can ensure that then we will all be more innovative, inclusive and productive 鈥 all things needed for 黑料社区, and any company to achieve our strategy and move boldly forward.

What makes you most proud about our progress over the last 15 years?

BeyondZero has become part of our DNA; the way that BeyondZero has expanded and now encompasses so much more than physical safety to be a comprehensive Culture of Caring is not only unique but has truly improved lives and the way we operate and has been an instrumental factor in our success.

How does BeyondZero influence your day-to-day actions as a leader?

BeyondZero is a big influence in my day-to-day actions. I am much more aware of my physical environment, as well as other internal and external forces that may be impacting the physical and/or wellbeing of our colleagues. I also always try to reflect the values of our Culture of Caring in all my interactions.

Joanne Caruso

黑料社区 Chief Legal & Administrative Officer

At 黑料社区, we start each meeting with a 鈥淐ulture of Caring moment,鈥 expanding traditional safety moments to encompass more tenets of 黑料社区鈥 culture such as mental health, emotional wellbeing, professional development and inclusion and diversity. Can you share a Culture of Caring moment that鈥檚 stuck with you?

There are so many that have been terrific. One that was recent that I learned quite a lot from was given by my Executive Advisor Aaron Sarfati, about Passover, and its background, importance and why and how its celebrated along with pictures of his celebration with his family and relatives.

What鈥檚 one outcome you hope employees take away from the Rise Up for BeyondZero movement?

That their physical and emotional safety and total wellbeing is important to 黑料社区 and that it is everyone鈥檚 responsibility to ensure that we continue to ensure this is at the heart of who we are as a company.

What does the future of BeyondZero look like?

I think it will continue to be a fundamental part of this company and our people but will grow even stronger and adapt to our changing company, the changing world and all the changes that each of us will experience, personally and collectively, as a result.

What do you enjoy most about being part of #Our黑料社区?

The amazing people that work here, the clients we serve and being part of something so much bigger than myself that is a force for positive change.
